TitanGrip

TitanGrip® & ThickThin® technology

Pewag snow chains – now lighter  and  with longer life span

Snow  chains marked with the TitanGrip®   trademark are made from a special high-grade alloy steel.  The combination of  tita- nium and  Boron steel  in conjunction with a sophisticated heat treatment process provides maximum wear resistance.

A chain  is only as strong as its weakest link.

But why must  every chain  link have  the same shape?

Can we build better  chains by combining different types of chain  links?

Pewag found  the answer by consistently working on a new technology to radically improve  chains. The result of this research is the ThickThin®  technology. For the first time in the history of chain manufacturing different chain links (different in shape, length  and  thickness) can  be assembled in one  chain. For this reason Pewag can  manufacture the best combination for the various  areas of use.

What is your advantage?

Reduced weight,  considerably longer  life span and  optimum traction  performance.

Tractor Tire Sizing

universal ED, erzberg ED, OTR & Tractor Sizing Information

The Goodyear OTR tires shown to the left are a graphic example of this variation in physical size – Both are cataloged as 20.5R25 tires – yet there is a 17% difference in the physical size of the tires when fitting a tire chain such as the pewag universal & erzberg chains. There is a 5.7” difference in the diameter of the 2 tires which directly effects the length of the chain needed to connect around the tire by 17.9”.
How is this calculated?
Diameters are translated into circumference by multiplying:
diameter x 3.1416 x width = tread area to be covered by the tire chain. In
the example to the left, this calculation yields results of 3815 vs. 4549 sq inches; a 17% variation.

Pewag universal & erzberg chains are designed to fit up to L3 tires – (that have NOT been capped). For capped L4 tires and L5 tires – Pewag makes “Extension Felds “ which can easily be added to the chains to increase the length of the chain for these type tires. The use of extension felds ensures the best possible fit on the larger OTR tires and should be anticipated when ordering any tire chains for use on OTR tires.

Pewag will custom build chains for ANY tire size. Our experienced chain builders are standing by to fulfill your request.
